The Sea of Abruzzo: An Embrace of Beauty, Care and Nature
Abruzzo, a land of majestic mountains and enchanted villages, guards along its coast a treasure that caresses the soul: the sea. Here, between golden beaches, crystal clear waters and nature reserves, every detail tells a story of harmony between man and nature, offering experiences that warm the heart and regenerate the spirit.
🌊 Beaches that Welcome with Sweetness
The Abruzzo coast extends for over 130 kilometers, offering a variety of beaches that seem designed to pamper every visitor. Locations such as Alba Adriatica, Giulianova, Tortoreto, Silvi Marina, Pineto, Pescara and Vasto have wide and sandy beaches, easily accessible, ideal for families with children thanks to the low bottom and the calm sea. The bathing establishments are well organized, with spaced umbrellas, toilets, bars and restaurants overlooking the sea that offer the best of local cuisine.
For those looking for the freedom of free beaches, uncontaminated stretches such as the Lido di Casalbordino or the evocative Costa dei Trabocchi offer landscapes where nature is the protagonist.
🏅 Blue Flags 2025: The Excellence that Shines
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) assigns blue flags every year to both maritime and lake seaside resorts that meet different criteria, which are 32 in total, which refer to cleanliness, therefore to environmental sustainability, the quality of services offered to tourists and residents as well as to the protection of guaranteed safety on the territory.
In 2025, Abruzzo reached a significant milestone: 16 locations obtained the prestigious Blue Flag, an international recognition that rewards water quality, sustainable land management and services offered to tourists. Abruzzo Cityrumors

This recognition is not only a symbol, but the testimony of the commitment of local communities to preserve and enhance their natural heritage.
The assignment, in fact, changes every year and the municipalities that want to receive the recognition must demonstrate the ability to better manage their natural resources and are carefully monitored so that there is an effective quality guarantee aimed at promoting sustainable tourism.
Anyone who wants to plan their holidays is attracted to the places that have received the blue flag because this means that the area meets different requirements regarding water cleanliness, therefore the efficiency of the treatment plants, waste management and the coverage of the sewage service. There is no shortage of other evaluation criteria, which concern services for citizens and tourists as well as the decorum of the urban environment, safety, the promotion of sustainable mobility and environmental education initiatives organized by the municipalities themselves.
🌿Borsacchio Nature Reserve: A Jewel to Protect
Among the wonders of the Abruzzo coast, the Borsacchio Nature Reserve stands out as a sanctuary of biodiversity and beauty. Located between Roseto degli Abruzzi and the hamlets of Cologna Spiaggia and Montepagano, it covers an area of 1,100 hectares, embracing hills, coves, dunes and stretches of Mediterranean scrub.visitroseto.it+1YesAbruzzo! +1
The reserve is the habitat of rare and protected species, such as the 'fratino' a small bird symbol of uncontaminated beaches, and the sea lily, a delicate flower that blooms among the dunes. Live the World
However, this natural paradise has recently faced a significant reduction in its perimeter, from 1,100 to only 24.7 hectares. A decision that has aroused concern among environmentalists and citizens, aware of the importance of preserving such a unique and precious place. 💙 An Invitation to the Heart
The Sea of Abruzzo is not only a tourist destination, but an experience that touches the deepest ropes of the soul. It is the smile of a fisherman who tells ancient stories, the scent of the sea in the morning, the singing of birds in the dunes, the sensation of warm sand under his feet.
Every visit is an invitation to slow down, to listen, to hear. It is a hug that welcomes, that cares, that renews.
In Abruzzo, the sea is more than a landscape: it is a travel companion, a trusted friend, an inexhaustible source of emotions.
